The current research explores the incidence of didactic material in the English
learning process while considering phonemic awareness in kindergarten students and its
importance in English language teaching. Previous research has discovered that teachers’
beliefs and practices have a significant influence on teaching phonemic processes (Tatto,
2019). Still, little attention has been given to the impact of the instructional material on
teaching a language to kindergarten students (Vidal, 2019).
The study, which will be carried out considering the population in the William
Kilpatrick Kindergarten, adopted a qualitative paradigm and an action research approach to
collect data on students’ speaking skills; it was developed through semi-structured interviews.
Furthermore, it is expected to help teachers to make informed decisions about the materials
they choose for the teaching process. Consequently, this might suggest that an effective
approach for teaching English to early childhood students could involve instructional material
that takes into account the significance of age and phonemic awareness in the learning
process.
