“La casa de los muertos” de Júlia Lopes de Almeida

Abstract

Júlia Lopes de Almeida, una de las grandes figuras literarias de su época, creó una obra vasta y diversificada que abarca novelas, relatos cortos, crónicas y obras de teatro, y sus textos circularon ampliamente en importantes periódicos de principios del siglo XX. Entre sus obras más destacadas se encuentran la novela A falência (1901), que retrata el colapso económico y moral de la burguesía tras la abolición de la esclavitud, y la colección de cuentos Ânsia eterna (1903), en la que destacan tres temas recurrentes: la muerte, el amor y la maternidad (Figueiredo, 2014).

Júlia Lopes de Almeida, one of the great literary figures of her time, produced a vast and diverse body of work that includes novels, novellas, short stories, chronicles, and plays, and her texts were widely circulated in important newspapers in the early 20th century. Among her most notable worksare the novel A falência (1901), which portrays the economic and moral collapse of the bourgeoisie after the abolition of slavery, and the collection of short stories Ânsia eterna (1903), in which three recurring themes stand out: death, love, and motherhood (Figueiredo, 2014).
