The objective of this article is to identify how the phenomena of nutrition and human nutrition are approached in the context of the design and implementation of policies, programs and interventions in public health. In addition, it seeks to clarify whether they follow patterns of linearity, determinism and reductionism in the approach to the problems identified for these fields of study in order to provide new perspectives and approaches for the paradigm shift in the development of public policies on nutrition and food, from the sciences of complexity. For the above, a qualitative approach was used, through the adaptation of the systematic review methodology. A total of 403 articles were selected from PubMed, Scopus, Scielo and Elsevier databases. The articles were analyzed with the support of the Rayyan tool. As a result, it was found that the approach to public policies, programs and interventions in the topics studied continues to be developed from a linear and reductionist perspective, focusing essentially on the problem of the disease, leaving aside the health experiences as a tool to positively influence from the construction of public policies.eng
